WHO WE ARE
and Executive Director: Anna Friedmann Bernanke
Born in Rome,
Italy, Mrs. Bernanke’s parents emigrated to the United States when she was a
baby, settling in Denver, Colorado. When she was in the first grade, Anna
decided that she wanted to be a teacher when she grew up.
Anna has been
an educator for over 20 years, working in private and public institutions both
as a teacher and as an administrator.
is founded on Anna’s personal and professional experience and her desire to
work with urban youth. She is deeply committed to the benefits of an
arts-integrated and experiential approach to learning. She believes that
deep learning occurs when there is an emotional and real-world connection to
content. There is no better way to create emotional connections than through the
arts and no better way to discover real-world meaning than through experience.
