Founder and Executive Director:  Anna Friedmann Bernanke

Born in Rome, Italy, Mrs. Bernanke’s parents emigrated to the United States when she was a baby, settling in Denver, Colorado.  When she was in the first grade, Anna decided that she wanted to be a teacher when she grew up.

Anna has been an educator for over 20 years, working in private and public institutions both as a teacher and as an administrator.

Chance Academy is founded on Anna’s personal and professional experience and her desire to work with urban youth. She is deeply committed to the benefits of an arts-integrated and experiential approach to learning.  She believes that deep learning occurs when there is an emotional and real-world connection to content. There is no better way to create emotional connections than through the arts and no better way to discover real-world meaning than through experience.

The staff is a group of veteran educators and professionals with experience with urban youth.

Notice of nondiscriminatory policy as to students: CHANCE Academy admits students of any race, color, gender, affectional orientation, and national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded to or made available to students at CHANCE. CHANCE does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, affectional orientation, national ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
